Want to better understand yourself? Or be a better leader for your team? The MBTI® can be the start of a perspective shift.
The first version of this instrument was published in 1957 and it has been in use and continuously improved on since then. It has been used by over 80% of Fortune 100 companies, and is currently available in 29 languages. The MBTI® is a very statistically reliable tool for identifying personality traits.
This instrument can help us identify our own strengths, preferred working styles, and potential. It can help us as individuals, and as members of teams, to recognize our blind spots and biases about people who are different from us.
The fact that there are no better or worse "types" means that everyone is equal and valued. Greater understanding of personality types helps create appreciation for different approaches to work, communication, conflict, leadership, and decision making.
Imagine a workplace where minor irritations and friction were recognized early and addressed productively, BEFORE becoming something bigger. Taking some time with your team to explore different personality types, world views, and approaches to work can give everyone new tools to improve communication and minimize negative conflict. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) team-building workshop can help teams to improve both self-awareness and awareness of differences between team members.
Prior to the workshop, participants will complete an online MBTI® assessment, the first step in identifying their 4-letter personality type. For most people this takes less than 30 minutes to complete.
During the workshop the facilitator will briefly introduce the theory and development of the MBTI® starting with Carl Jung. The facilitator will guide participants through activities and discussion to verify their 4-letter personality type, and everyone will receive their computer-generated report.
Once participants have identified their “best fit” 4-letter personality type, the group will be guided through several activities which illustrate what different personality types and preferences mean in real life. The number and type of activities depends on the length of the workshop and the needs of the team. These activities never fail to spark conversation and create new or renewed awareness among team members.
The focus throughout the workshop is on the value in diversity and a repeated theme is how we can bring out the best in each other in the workplace.
Are you a high school student trying to decide on a career path after graduation? Or maybe you are mid-career and you want to make a career change?
The MBTI® can help you narrow down your search and guide you toward fields of work that fit your natural preferences.
Are you a new or seasoned leader who wants a better understanding of how your team sees you, or how to effectively communicate with the different personalities in your workplace?
In an individual session you can get more in-depth information, including a specialized report and up to 2 hours debrief and discussion tailored to your needs.
Lisa is an educator, a human resource professional, and a trained facilitator of the MBTI®. She has been working with this instrument for almost 10 years, and has explored personality types with many diverse groups. Her focus in this workshop is to make space to understand how work teams can capitalize on the different personality types and preferences to improve team cohesion, creativity, and productivity, and to have fun doing it.
